Most people, myself included, had no idea Ugg Boots made mens footwear! Everyone thought that ladies boots made up the entire footwear line. That’s not true at all. On their official website, the company sells shoes for Men, Women, and Children.
There are snowboots, snowboot liners, work style boots, boot care kits, and everything else you could imagine for footwear. This includes leather care kits and even brushes!
Most people don’t go too overboard with their shoes, but if you happen to be one of those people that really goes nuts over your shoes, the accessories sold may just fit the bill.
In the end, the question is: Will to Tom Brady commercial really sell men’s shoes?
This is the way it’s going. Women love NFL Players, and men want to be them. By selling the product with a man, UGG can approach both audiences. It’s obvious that women already know about UGG Boots, so expanding into Men’s fashion could be a huge revenue source for the company. Then again, it could be a giant money pit.
We haven’t seen too much data just yet on what the outcome of this marketing campaign has been. Indeed, the numbers will be huge. You can’t run a commercial with Tom Brady without causing some type of a stir. And most men don’t question Mr Brady, even if he’s wearing boots from a company that traditionally sells womens footwear.
Now don’t get me wrong, these are men’s shoes through and through. What the company is doing is re-branding themselves ( like lighting companies are doing for LED Light Bulbs ) as a major player in the footwear industry – Not just a women’s shoe company.
You also have to wonder if this is a good business decision. UGG Boots are expanding, and expansion is not always good. They are successful in the women’s footwear department, and most advisors agree that sticking to what you’re good at is far better than re-inventing the wheel and branching out into a new market and new opportunity.
Are women’s boots untapped? Is there more to women’s shoes?
Obviously, in the case of UGGs, the company thinks so. If there was any more money they could squeeze out of the market, they would have done it a long time ago. But they simply haven’t. They’ve moved into an entirely different, entirely new market.
So, what is the overall appeal of these boots?
Is it the tempting look, the comfort, or the cold-stopping exterior. I’m sure you’ve seen women who lose weight fast wearing Ugg Boots in the summer time, and then a ton of women wearing them in the Winter. Are they really a good choice for a summer day?
The answer is that these shoes have expanded past just “cold-protectors”. They’ve moved into a fashion statement. Some stores are even making entire department sections for Ugg Boots! In fact, most stores today will have at least a dedicated display for these boots.
In the end, it’s not how functional the footwear is, but how good it makes you feel about yourself. It’s like how to lose weight fast or how to lose weight. Obviously you have to have a shoe or boot that doesn’t hurt your feet when you walk. Comfy insides don’t hurt. Keeping out the cold isn’t bad either. But if the footwear looks like crap, you’re never going to want to wear it.
